Aarnoud van Weelderen is the first CEO of the newly established Heritage Fund Opportunities Corporation. The group was established in 2025 to manage the 1976-founded Alberta Heritage Funds, which was initiated with contributions from the province's non-renewable resource revenues and has a current mandate to maximize absolute returns on a risk-adjusted basis. Mr. van Weelderen brings extensive leadership and execution experience across investment management, interest rate and currency trading, and commodities structuring. His prior roles included Senior Managing Director with Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Markets division, Managing Director with J.P. Morgan’s Global Commodities Group, Vice President with Goldman Sachs’ Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities division and various roles within Goldman Sachs’ Investment Management Division. Mr. van Weelderen holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. After having worked in New York, Chicago and other centres, he and his family now reside in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
