Mr Georgios Giakoumakis curriculum vitae Georgios Giakoumakis is the elected President of the Chamber of Rethymno since 2006 and additionally is currently the President of the Regional Chamber Council of Crete (P.E.S.K.), an institutional body that collectively represents the business community of the Region of Crete. Within the scope of his relevant responsibilities, Georgios Giakoumakis represents the Chambers of the Region of Crete in the Regional Council, the Regional Consultation Committee, and other consultation bodies established in the Region of Crete. He also participates as a representative of the Chamber of Rethymno in a series of sector-specific and public organizations focused on action planning, providing expert opinions, and submitting proposals to the State, such as: • VIOPA RETHYMNOU S.A. (Industrial Park of Rethymno) • Chamber Group for the Development of Greek Islands (EOAEN) • Development of Crete (Intermediary Management Body for business funding and support) Georgios Giakoumakis holds a degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Crete. He has served the public as an elected municipal councilor and Deputy Mayor of Rethymno, as well as an administrative board member of various athletic clubs in Rethymno. He is the President and CEO of the company "Tannery I. & G. Giakoumakis S.A.", a leather processing plant which, since 2008, is the only company in the leather processing and tanning sector to possess a Definitive Operating License.
