Yannis Manuelides

Finance Lawyer and Advisor

Yannis Manuelides is a finance lawyer and advisor currently working through Elmar Advisors advising banks, PE houses, corporates, and sovereigns.  He retired in 2023 from international law firm Allen & Overy (now Allen Overy Shearman Sterling) after 25 years with the firm, including 23 as partner. 

His legal career began in January 1988.  During that time, he worked in London (30 years) and Paris (5½ years) on all types of debt finance acting for major banks, corporates, private equity houses, international organisations, bondholder creditors and governments. 

 

A graduate of Athens College (1976), Princeton University (AB Philosophy, 1980), University of Chicago (MA Philosophy, 1983) and Cambridge University (BA Law 1985), he is an English law qualified lawyer and former member of the Paris Bar. 

 

Yannis is a contributor to the current debates on sovereign and bank debt through advice, membership of special committees, lectures and papers.  He sits on boards of non-for-profit educational institutions and charities.
