Nikos Romanos, Director of digital communications to the prime minister

 

Nikos Romanos was born in Athens in 1981. He graduated from the psychology department of the university of Essex while he owns an MBA from Cardiff Business School. He began his professional career in key marketing roles for major international sporting events, such as the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and the Doha 2006 Asian Games. Upon his return to Greece, he became active in the food service sector, co-founding a company that has since developed into an integrated ice cream production and wholesale enterprise, comprising a central production facility and three retail outlets.In parallel, he was a co-founder of the first frozen yogurt chain that helped establish and popularize the trend surrounding this product

 

In 2014, in tandem with his other activities, Nikos Romanos specialized in cognitive psychology and worked as a psychologist in collaboration with a Rational Emotive Cognitive Psychotherapy center.

 

In 2016, he became active on social media, developing a strong political presence through his posts, and subsequently began writing regularly for news websites and newspapers (including Liberal, Proto Thema, Protagon, Eleftheros Typos, among others). During the same period, he was appointed Deputy Secretary for Strategic Planning of New Democracy by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. From 2017 to the present, he has held a leading role in the party’s communications structure, initially serving as Deputy Press Spokesperson of New Democracy (2017–2019), and subsequently as Director of the New Democracy Press Office from August 2019 to October 2023, when he was appointed by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as Press Spokesperson of New Democracy. He served in this role until April 2025, when he was appointed Director of Digital Communications to the Prime Minister, a position he holds to this day.

At the same time, he played a central role in efforts to combat fake news, establishing during his tenure the Fake News Observatory of the New Democracy Press Office
