Anna Nikoleta Griva is an undergraduate student in the Department of Biology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, currently completing her thesis project. She is interested in genetics and biotechnology, and the link between scientific discovery and entrepreneurship. She was a columnist in the Health, Culture and Society columns (2021-2024) and Editor in Chief of the Society column (2022-2023) at the “OffLine Post” university student newspaper. She was part of the university student team iGEM Athens 2024 that won a Gold Medal and a nomination for "Best Entrepreneurship" at the international synthetic biology competition iGEM 2024, as well as the 1st Prize in the 2nd Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The team focused on the recycling and upcycling of precious metals found in e-waste, employing microorganisms to perform bioleaching, an eco-friendly and sustainable method.
